In the last Census taken in New Zealand, about 55.6% of the people are Christians, so beware if you do not take kindly to Christians, because with over half the population that religion, you are bound to run into one. English is the main language spoken in New Zealand, and te reo Maori ( Language of the Maori, the original residents of the island) was sort of washed away by European settlers, but is now an official language of New Zealand and is spoken by about 5% of the people.
